Model Boats Plank On Frame Construction
Hi i'm new to boat building and have been given plans for miranda steam launch for my birthday,as this is new to me i am bit confused with plank on frame construction no info on width ,depth, length of planks, think i can manage rest of plans ok.. Probably the most often confused model boat hull designs are plank-on-frame and plank-on-bulkhead - strictly speaking, they are not the same thing. plank-on-frame mimics the way a full-size ship was built, from the way the frames are constructed, to the width and joints of each strip as it is planked.. The monograph describes the build method as "an easy introduction to plank on frame model ship construction", which is ideally suited to my level of building (which is mainly kit based/kit bashing). when the monograph arrives some time this week, i can carefully assess the method of the build and develop a build plan for the model..
